Al Koran

Al Koran was the stage name of Edward Doe, who was a former hairdresser that turned professional magician/mentalist. In 1945, he became the youngest member ever to be awarded London Society of Magicians Gold Medal. It was after this that he selected the stage name “Al Koran” and make magic a full time job.

Later in life, Al Koran emigrated to the United States in January 1969, first to Cleveland, Ohio and then later settling in Chicago, Illinois. He appeared many times on the Ed Sullivan show.

Johnny Thompson

When John Thompson was 8 years old, he saw a riverboat gambler in a movie and decided he wanted to be a card cheat. His sleight-of-hand skills put magic in between other highlights of a colorful career that includes The Harmonicats group in the ’50s, and acting in the 1978 dinner-theater production Bob Crane headlined, and in recent years, Thompson has spent more time behind the scenes as the go-to guy for magicians such as Criss Angel.

Jeff McBride

Fantasio

Few people know that Ricardo Fantasio was the highest-paid magician to ever appear on “The Ed Sullivan Show,” or that he worked on the same programs as did the Beatles, Louis Armstrong, Bob Hope, Tony Bennett, Count Basie and his orchestra, and many other notables.

Here’s Fantasio performing a short act for a TV special doing Cane to Bouquets, Appearing and Vanishing Candles in Miami Beach (1984).

Orson Wells was an Academy Award-winning director, writer, actor and producer for film, stage, radio and television. Welles first gained wide notoriety for his October 30, 1938, radio broadcast of H. G. Wells’ The War of the Worlds.

Derek Dingle

Derek Dingle was a renowned English close-up magician. Like many magicians before him, Dingle became interested in magic after receiving a box of magic tricks when he was about eight years old.

Known in the magic world for his technical ability, Dingle was very proficient with difficult sleight of hand technique with playing cards and coins. Among fellow magicians, he was well known for his skill in executing the pass.

Tommy Wonder

Tommy Wonder developed an interest in conjuring at an early age. He studied acting, dancing and singing for three years at the Academie voor Podiumvorming (Performance Academy) in The Hague and subsequently toured for two years with De Haagsche Comedie.

Because Tommy Wonder designed and developed all of his own repertoire, he was held in high esteem amongst his colleagues in magic.

Pierre Brahma

A native of Marseilles, PIERRE BRAHMA was born to an Italian mother and a French father. At the age of thirteen, he becomes deaf as a result of a severe case of scarlet fever.

Nonetheless, in 1964, he is crowned WORLD CHAMPION OF MAGIC in Barcelona and embarks on an international career, which takes him all over the world: JAPAN, the U.S., AFRICA, AUSTRALIA, the MIDDLE EAST, ETC.

Ed Marlo

Ed Marlo was one of the most notable names in card magic. Marlo himself coined the term cardician, a term which has since been used for magicians who only perform card magic.

The many sleights he created have changed the face of card magic. One notable example is his Snap change, used in David Blaine´s Street Magic special.
