Guy Hollingworth
Guy Hollingworth, born 1974, is an English barrister, conjuror, author and lecturer.
Hollingworth first became interested in magic at the age of 13 when he joined his school’s magic instead of sports clubs. He was inspired after seeing Channing Pollock on the television series The Best of Magic, broadcast by Thames Television in 1989-90. Guy was also inspired by Ricky Jay’s performance on the Channel 4 television series Secret Cabaret. In joining the magic club, Guy didn’t realize that the club actually had to perform in front of the entire school. To dupe the school that he had been learning, Guy used a svengali deck to entertain his school. Guy has a degree in industrial design and law. He currently works full-time as a barrister but continues to give occasional magic performances.
Hollingworth’s best known creation is his trick The Reformation, a rendition of the torn and restorn card. He has a book Drawing Room Deceptions and has multiple hard to find dvds, The London Collection and Routines. In August 2008, he presented a well-received show at the Edinburgh Comedy Festival entitled “Expert at the Card Table”, which was based on a 1902 book of the same title.
